Local residents are invited to an uplifting and fun day singing.

Prestbury Choral Society are preparing for their popular singing day, which is open to everyone, whether you are an experienced singer or a novice.

This annual event is a great way to spend the day, making new friends and improving your singing skills and learning new ones.

Cynthia Crewe said "We are delighted to welcome accomplished local soprano Angela Rowley to lead us in exploring the hugely popular and challenging modern work, 'The Armed Man' by Carl Jenkins, a powerful 'mass for peace'.

"Written at the turn of the millennium, it charts the growing menace of a descent into war, interspersed with moments of reflection, and ends with the hope of peace in a new millennium. In addition to extracts from the Christian Mass, the text incorporates words from other world religious and historical sources."

Angela Rowley's extensive musical talents include performing regularly with orchestras and choirs, both in the UK and Europe, teaching, and running performance workshops and master classes.

The Singing Day, on Saturday 11th February, will take place, as usual, at Prestbury CofE Primary School. Musical scores will be provided and the fee for the day will be £18.

To register email prestburychoral@ntlworld.com or call the secretary on 01625 584820, giving your name, voice part and contact email address or phone number.
