The rota for this year's Sunday Teas at the Village Hall is currently being compiled.
St Peter's Church Social Group will be holding these events every Sunday from 6th May to 14th October between 3pm and 5.30pm.
The Sunday Teas were started approximately 40 years ago at Ford House, by St. Peter's Church Choir as a fund raiser. The Choir continued to do it for many, many years until it was opened up to other organisations. The Sunday Teas now take place at Prestbury Village Hall and more recently have been organised by Gerry Porter and Jennifer Whaley on behalf of the Church Social Group.
Gerry Porter told me "The cakes and scones are home made and, because different organisations take part, there is a wide variety of cakes each week and the atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming.
"Over the years many different Groups have taken part including regulars such as the Choirs, W.I., Alzheimers Society, Breakthrough Cancer, East Cheshire Hospice and the Mothers Union but each year we have seen new organisations join the rota. This year Hampers of Hope are booking a session. The groups pay a modest fee for the use of the Village Hall and then the rest of the proceeds go to their organisation."
During the Summer a programme of free Summer music takes place in Prestbury Church on selected Sunday afternoons and the attendees at these concerts are invited to go to Sunday Teas after the concerts.
If you wish to book one or more sessions for your organisation please contact Gerry Porter on 575115, or Jennifer Whaley on 829946 with your preferred date(s) or for more information. Please provide a couple of alternative dates in case your choice has been taken.
